Outdoor Fireplace Concept

Fireplace Season is in and we are doing some really neat concept drawings right now.

A little history of fireplaces for you:

Ancient fire pits were sometimes built in the ground, within caves, or in the center of a hut or dwelling. Evidence of prehistoric, man-made fires exists on all five continents. Chimneys, invented much later, partially fixed this problem, venting smoke outside.
In 1678 Prince Rupert, nephew of Charles I, raised the grate of the fireplace, improving the airflow and venting system. The 18th century saw two important developments in the history of fireplaces. Ben Franklin developed a convection chamber for the fireplace that greatly improved the efficiency of fireplaces and wood stoves. He also improved the airflow by pulling air from a basement and venting out a longer area at the top. In the later 18th century, Count Rumford designed a fireplace with a tall, shallow firebox that was better at drawing the smoke up and out of the building. The shallow design also improved greatly the amount of radiant heat projected into the room. Rumford's design is the foundation for modern fireplaces.

Fireplaces can range in size and shape, but can really add to your backyard for a variety of reasons.

This is a concept that I think really pops!

Infrared vs Charcoal?

Well we searched high and low and found a new grill technology that offers the kind of customer service you want as a consumer as well as the kind of product.  New to the market, but I think an immediate competitor is the Saber Grill Line.

You can view all of their products in depth here http://www.familyleisure.com/Grills/Saber-Grills

and as of right now you can purchase it either at the store or online here www.familyleisure.com

I have personally checked it out and I must say its a totally different way to grill out, but I like it!  The flavor grids get hot FAST and it all based upon indirect heat so there are absolutely no flare ups.

Food critic Bobby Flay explains it well here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KfeNj1KDfpQ

You can do them in either cart for or built in for your outdoor kitchen.

A new look in Outdoor Living ----- Let's see what granite can really do!

This client wasn't afraid to try something so new....it's hard to find pictures even on the internet for it!

A big thing in the 90's was concrete counter tops.  Both for indoor and outdoor use....the problem is that 10 years later, they are cracking all over the place.  Let's face it....concrete is going to crack, its just a matter of time folks.

We here at Family Leisure have a competitor to concrete that will look and last soooooooo much longer.  It's called "honed" and "chiseled" granite......we dull it down, and chisel the edges to give the look of concrete without all of the problems of cracking.

This client said, " I smoke and grill and need both in my custom kitchen."

We said, "No problem.....let's do both for this custom piece of outdoor living."

Well, what do you think here???????

Before....what a nice looking stamp here! Something is missing though.....

Little bit more of the view....now let's fill it with something special.

And voila.......

Chiseled and Honed Granite island!

Profile View......we just had to move that other grill off the space for this one!

Now that is some concrete looking granite that takes the worry out of your counter top!
More to come......but another custom outdoor client satisfied!

Outdoor Room ---- let's take it "up" a notch shall we????

Here is an exposed agg. concrete slab.....after we looked at the space we decided to take it "up" by adding a 15 x 15 extended height (that's right almost 12 feet of MORE pergola).......I think I see an outdoor fan in the future here don't you????

So let's take a look at the before pics shall we????

Great space potential!

Great backyard view!

More great space with more view

This grill is trying to hide from me....but I see you in the corner!!!

After some Family Leisure custom magic we took this backyard space and took it up........waaaaaaayyyyy up.

Great Pergola that frames the space nicely!

Outdoor Kitchen w/ dining height fire pit!
Now THAT is a pergola....rough cut cedar with 20' stone bases for that little extra!
A great look that will just keep getting better with time!!!!!

Custom Backyard Brilliance

This is an example of where we took a backyard with an old 80's built in Jacuzzi, a rotting deck, and with some creative magic......produced a space with 3 times the square footage and 10 times the fun!

What we did was tear out it all out! Add 1200 square feet of  beautiful stamp concrete AS WELL AS some stained exposed agg. concrete and stained it brown to tie it together!  Now, that was just the start of the project:  We then designed an outdoor bar island with some Aspen stacked country ledgestone, a huge wood burning fire pit, and then veneered the underside of the trim of their 3 seasons room with the same stone as a complete finishing touch.......look at the results!!!!!

Stamped concrete off the 3 seasons room

Stamped Concrete sidewalk where the Jacuzzi used to be!

Stamped and Exposed Agg. brought together for the space!

Oh, that's not all folks.......let's dress this up a bit shall we.....custom Family Leisure style.......

Bam - Now a bar island sits!
